Dr. Qiu-wang Wang received a B.Sc. in Fluid Machinery from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, in 1991 and a Ph.D. degree in Engineering Thermophysics from the same university in 1996. He then joined the faculty of the university. He is now a full professor of School of Energy and Power Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University. He was a visiting scholar in the Division of Building Science and Technology at City University of Hong Kong from 1998 to 1999, and a guest professor in the Institute for Materials Chemistry and Engineering at Kyushu University of Japan from September to December, 2003. He took the associate professor and professor posts in 1998 and 2001 respectively, in the field of Engineering Thermophysics of School of Energy and Power Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University. He was one of eight Outstanding Young Professor of Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2001, and became one of the New Century Excellent Talents in University of China from 2004. He won the Distinguished Teacher Award of Shaanxi Province (2007), the Distinguished Teacher Award of Xi’an Jiaotong University (2006), the Outstanding Teacher Award of Wang Kuan-Cheng Education Foundation (2005), the Outstanding Teacher Award of Bao-Gang Education Foundation (2005), and HEATCRAFT Young Scientist Award of Xi’an Jiaotong University (2004). He was also the winner of Higher Academy Young Teacher Foundation Project of Fok Ying-Tung Education Foundation of China (2004). He was the winner of China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists by NSF of China (2010).
Dr. Qiu-wang Wang is actively involved in both teaching and research. He is currently teaching the courses of “Heat Transfer”, “Computational Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer” for undergraduate students, and the course of “Advanced Heat Transfer” for graduate students respectively. His main research interests include Computational Fluid Dynamics and Numerical Heat Transfer (CFD&NHT), heat transfer enhancement, transport phenomena in porous media, compact heat exchangers, building energy saving and indoor air quality, etc. Since 1997, he has successfully attracted a lot of research grants in above fields from government and industry (such as Chinese National High Technology R&D 863 Project, National Natural Science Foundation of China, Research Foundation of Key Laboratory of National Defense Science and Technology of China, Higher Academy Young Teacher Foundation Project of Fok Ying-Tung Education Foundation etc). He has obtained about 10 awards related to teaching or research.
He is also actively involved in professional activities as well. Dr. Qiuwang Wang is a member of Scientific Council of the International Centre for Heat and Mass Transfer (ICHMT) since 2009, a Committee Member of Heat Transfer Division K-18: Low Temperature Heat Transfer of ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition since 2009, a member of ASME, an Editorial Board Member of The Open Thermodynamics Journal, an Editorial Board Member of The Open Transport Phenomena Journal (Regional Editor for Asia), an Editorial Board Member of International Journal of Engineering Systems Modelling and Simulation; a vice president of Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics in Heat and Mass Transfer, a committee member of Chinese Society of Power Engineering in Automation, a vice chairman of Chinese Journal of Industrial Heating, an Editorial Board Member of Chinese Journal of Coal Chemical Engineering, an Editorial Board Member of Chinese Journal of Speciality Petrochemicals, an executive committee member of Chinese Society of Electrical Machinery Engineering for Youth, a member of Chinese Society of Power Engineering, a member of the State Key Laboratory of Multiphase Flow in Power Engineering of Xi’an Jiaotong University, etc. He has also delivered more than 10 invited/keynote lectures in international conferences or foreign Universities.
Dr. Qiuwang Wang acts as reviewer for several prestigious international journals such as ASME Journal of Heat Transfer, International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, Applied Thermal Engineering, International Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, Progress in Computational Fluid Dynamics - An International Journal, Heat Transfer Engineering, Numerical Heat Transfer, International Journal of Computational Methods, Journal of Porous Media, etc. and several Chinese Journals. He is also the reviewer of the Electroheat International Standard for Chinese National Standardization Technology Committee of Industrial Electroheat Equipment, the member of graduate course quality inspection of Xi’an Jiaotong University. He has instructed or co-instructed more than 60 PhD or master students, among which about 30 had obtained their corresponding degrees. He has also been authors or co-authors of 4 books and more than 100 journal papers, about half of which are international journals. According to the ISI Web of Science website, his publications have been cited 228 times by others and his H-index is 12. He has obtained 14 China Invent Patents and one US patent.
